The Workshop Kit and purchases
What is free?
- Every daily safe
- Unlimited practice safes
- The share grid, your logbook and your rank
- The home-screen widget, and a morning reminder if you turn it on
- The whole first machine: all 7 of its parts and the first 7 letters
There are no ads and no subscriptions.
What does the Workshop Kit unlock?
The Workshop Kit is one optional in-app purchase, bought once: $4.99 in the US (the App Store shows your local price). It unlocks:
- Every machine after the first, including new ones as they are added
- Every letter after the seventh, including new ones
- 3 desk themes, 2 finishes and 3 dial faces
- The glass practice safe
Without the Kit you lose nothing you have earned: after the first machine, new parts wait in a crate and new letters stay sealed. Buy the Kit and everything opens at once.
How do I restore my purchase?
Tap the gear on the daily screen, then Restore Purchases. It is in the Shop too. Use the same Apple Account you bought the Kit with; restoring is free and works on a new iPhone or after reinstalling.
I bought the Kit but it isn't showing.
Try Restore Purchases first, and check that you are signed in to the App Store with the Apple Account that bought it. If it still isn't there, email us; please don't send payment details.
Can my family share the Kit?
Not at the moment: Family Sharing is off for the Workshop Kit.
How do refunds work?
Apple handles every refund, at reportaproblem.apple.com. After a refund the Kit stops unlocking new machines and letters, and its desk themes, finishes, dial faces and glass safe go back to the standard look. Parts and letters you had already opened stay open.
Playing
How do I play?
Turn the dial with one finger and watch the needle: it rises as you near a wheel's number. Tap the stethoscope and sweep the dial to listen. A snick means you found the number and a lamp lights; a tick is another wheel's number, chalked on the dial at that number with the wheel's numeral (I, II, III); a tonk is a decoy, chalked on the dial with an x. Light every lamp and the door opens. Par is the number of listens a sharp safecracker needs; try to match it.
When does the new safe arrive?
At midnight, your local time. Each day has one daily safe; practice safes are unlimited.
Can I play with the sound off, or without vibration?
Yes. Every cue shows on screen, so Tumblewright can be solved by sight alone. Sound and haptics add the feel of a real dial, and you can turn each off in Settings (the gear).
Why does it say practice only today?
If your iPhone's date is set more than a day behind the last safe you played, the daily safe waits and you can still play practice safes. Set the date back to today and the daily returns.
What is the morning knock?
An optional reminder, off unless you turn it on: at most one a day, in the morning. If you ignore three in a row it turns itself off. Change it under the gear, or in iOS Settings, Notifications.
How do I add the widget?
Touch and hold an empty part of your Home Screen, tap the add button, search for Tumblewright, and add the small widget. It shows whether today's safe is open and your listens against par.
Does it work on iPad or Mac?
Tumblewright is made for iPhone. An iPad can run it as an iPhone app, in a phone-sized window.
I deleted the app. Is my progress gone?
Progress is kept only on your iPhone, so deleting the app removes it, unless you restore the iPhone from a backup made before. The Workshop Kit itself is never lost: restore it from the gear.
Privacy
Does Tumblewright collect my data?
No. No accounts, no analytics, no ads and no tracking; your workshop stays on your phone. The details are in the privacy policy.
